There’s a unique kind of hurt that follows a borrowed dollar—
Not because the money mattered more than the moment,
But because trust was the true currency… and it was spent recklessly.

You gave from the heart. Not because you had extra,
But because they had a need.
Or so they said.

But what happens when that “need” was nothing more than a scheme?
A premeditated pitch, wrapped in manipulation,
Delivered with urgency and sealed with deceit.

First, the phone stops ringing.
Then, the “I’ll pay you Friday” becomes next month… then never.
Eventually, silence arrives—not humble, but calculated.
And you realize…
You weren’t helping a friend.
You were financing an opportunist’s lifestyle.

People don’t just go silent because they forgot.
They avoid because they got what they wanted—and now accountability costs too much.
They ghost you not from guilt, but from greed.

Let’s call it what it is:
A betrayal wrapped in falsehood.
A lie disguised as need.
A user dressed as a friend.

But here’s the deeper truth:
This is more than about money.
It’s about character.
And when someone has to rob your kindness to fund their convenience,
They never valued you to begin with.

Let this be your reminder:
God sees every scheme.
He hears the silence that follows stolen trust.
And while they may have borrowed money,
They forfeited relationship—and that debt is far more expensive.

Biblical Reflection – Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 (KJV):

“When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.”

Self-Reflection Prompt:

Have you ever loaned something out of love only to feel abandoned by someone you trusted? How can you set boundaries rooted in wisdom while still keeping a giving spirit?
