We live in a world that has turned skin tone into a weapon, a hierarchy, a curse, and an idol. We’ve let culture teach us who is beautiful, who is worthy, who is dangerous, who is disposable. We’ve swallowed lies that tell us melanin equals menace or that whiteness equals purity. We’ve baptized these lies in church pews, policy meetings, family dinners, and even in sermons that dared to twist God’s Word.

But God never ranked people by color. Never. The King James Bible makes that clear: “God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.” (Acts 10:34–35)

Honored, Not Hated: Ethiopia in the Bible

Scripture celebrates people we today would call “Black”: Ethiopia and Cush nations of dark-skinned peoples are praised. “Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.” (Psalm 68:31) God equates Ethiopia’s worth with Israel’s: “Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me…?” (Amos 9:7)

The bride in Song of Solomon proudly declares: “I am black, but comely…” (Song of Solomon 1:5)

Our Sin: Silent Beneficiaries and Active Participants

Let’s call it what it is: racism, colorism, and prejudice are sin. Not “cultural preferences,” not “just how I was raised,” not “political differences.” Sin. And sin damns. “If ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.” (James 2:9). This isn’t just about burning crosses and slurs. It’s in the side-eyes. The hiring biases. The church cliques. The way we rush to defend “our kind” while ignoring injustice to “them.” It’s the silence that profits from systems we won’t dismantle because they benefit us.

A Heart Check for Today

  • Where has skin color tilted my respect, fear, or trust?
  • When did I stay silent because bias favored me?
  • What am I teaching my children by word, joke, or omission?

Stop excusing it. Stop passing it down. Stop pretending neutrality equals innocence.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalms 139:23–24)

Prayer

Lord, please remove prejudice out of me by the root. Burn away pride. Forgive me for believing lies that place worth in skin and not in You. Break the chains of superiority, fear, and silence in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

  1. Repent specifically. Name the moment. Write it down. Lay it at the cross.
  2. Affirm intentionally. Seek out someone you’ve “ranked lower.” Speak life. Listen to their story without defense.
  3. Read Acts 8:26–39 (the Ethiopian eunuch). Let God remind you that salvation and glory belong to all nations, not favored few.

The enemy has always been divided by what is seen to destroy what is not seen. Do not be blindsided. God is not asking for your tolerance. He is commanding your repentance. Judgment is guaranteed. It is coming soon; no excuses will be justifiable. No repentance will lead to no salvation with God in heaven.

Reflection

Are you tired of repeating this same sin?

Will you confess today and repent?

Be Blessed 🙌
